We love the wines from Soter. They are a winery and family focused on supporting their community and the environment. Their home ranch is biodynamically farmed and functions in a way that gives back to the planet more than it takes, and they work with some of the best and most thoughtful growers in the Willamette Valley. Oh, and the wines are delicious, that’s the most important part. We want to drink them all the time. 

Thus it is always with great joy that we welcome a new wine from this producer! Just in time for Memorial Day and the summer that seems to have descended upon us full-force.

Created with the same philosophy as the Planet Oregon Pinot Noir that we already know and love, part of the profit is donated to the Oregon Environmental Council. It is also produced with 100% sustainability, confirming that there is no negative influence on the streams or surrounding wildlife areas, while also monitoring carbon emissions, waste production, and energy use. 

The wine is 100% Pinot Noir from the Willamette Valley, whole-cluster pressed with maceration on the skins to give it a beautiful pink color. 13.2% ABV with just 4 grams/Liter of dosage, the wine is juicy, mostly dry, and absolutely crushable on a patio or with light summer fare. 

In other news, we also have a wine that snuck into the portfolio—the Soter North Valley RESERVE Pinot Noir. Sitting in price between the North Valley Pinot and the Mineral Springs Ranch, this is a serious wine. 92 points from both Wine Enthusiast and Wine Spectator, it is a dense, concentrated, and dark-fruited example of what is possible in the Willamette Valley with a warm vintage and thoughtful fruit selection. The wine sees 40% new French oak, giving it some warm toasty notes without overpowering the beauty of the fruit. Gorgeous now, it will also benefit from a number of years in the cellar. We have a few 6-packs, so get it while you can!
