Bal Hornin’!

Shep is super stoked to announce the latest flocc member, Anderson Valley Brewing hailing from Boonville, CA!

Shep was a big fan of these beers way back in the day when he lived in Chico, CA. These beers have always been super balanced and straight up the Ballets(delicious)! What is that you say? Well the area of Boonville developed their own sort of language when the valley was first settled by the logging crews. This language has been a huge part of the branding for AVBC. The brewery began in 1987 and started using some of the Boontling on their beers and people loved it. Their Slogan “ Bahl Horning’” means good drinking and is a form of Cheers! Other notable words include Heelch, a large amount of something, Mink, a woman or a girl, Yink, a boy or a son, and Hairymoth, a dog! Their marketing is refreshingly funny and the beers are just as delicious!

When they started their 10 barrel brewery in 1987 there were only 20 craft brewers in the US! In 1996 the brewery expanded and is now surrounded by rolling hills peppered with century-old oaks to the west and towering redwood forests to the east, the 26-acre property houses a 100-barrel brewhouse, tasting room, beer garden, and is home to the first 18-hole disc golf course ever to be built at a brewery.

The brewery has an eye to the environment. They were environmentally friendly before it was trendy. Their large solar panel array provides over 40% of the electrical needs, while 100% of the wastewater is treated and used for the irrigation of their goat pastures and estate hop fields. In addition, the spent grain is given to local cows and spent hops are used as a natural fertilizer all the while making awesome beer.

Shep has secured a small quantity of a wide variety of beers from AVBC. VBS will have available some of the classics and some of their most sought out.

So Bahl Hornin’ 802! Let’s ring in the new year with these awesome beverages and let’s all learn some Boontling!
