Wilde Farm

We’re all about Sonoma these days at the Shepherd and this week we are proud to introduce one of the newest wines in the portfolio— Wilde Farm!

The estate itself, the Wilde Farm, was built by spice and coffee trader Samuel Wilde in 1907. The Grossman family moved into the farm 20 years ago and began producing wine not long thereafter. All the wines are sourced from old vineyards, fermented with indigenous yeast, aged in neutral oak, and express the pedigree of these amazing sites in the simplest, most unobstructed way.

Pax Mahle makes the wines for Wilde Farm and is at the forefront of the ’New California’ movement. His wines always focus on a slightly lower alcohol level, bright acidity, and clean expression of each grape variety.

Incoming Wines:

‘Heritage’ Bedrock Vineyard 2018 - From a vineyard planted in 1854 with funding from William Tecumseh Sherman (obviously pre-General days!), this wine is a field blend dominated by Zinfandel, but including at least 30 other grape varieties. Truly an iconic and hallowed site, it is a joy to taste what Pax makes from these old vines.

Alder Springs Vineyard Chardonnay 2016 - The Alder Springs Vineyard is in Mendocino and is one of the first vineyards that Pax sought out when starting his own Pax label. From low yielding vines at high-elevation, this is some sexy California Chardonnay from one of its best sites.

Halcon Vineyard Syrah 2016 - Pax has been a champion of Syrah for a long time and we’re excited to be offering the Wilde Farm Halcon Vineyard Syrah in small quantities. Smoky, peppery, bright, and every possible reason one could need to join the #Syrahvolution!

Drink in good health!
