Bindi Sergardi’s history can be traced back to the 14th century, to 1349, specifically, and the families have been working the land for 23 generations. TWENTY THREE GENERATIONS! I mean, Vermont has some amazing history for the United States and we’re an older state, but 23 generations is a ridiculous amount of history. Even for an esteemed Italian estate. Alessandra Casini Bindi Sergardi has taken over running the estates from her grandfather, Nicolo Casini, and continues to work with very traditional ideas, without being afraid to explore new ideas like clonal selection for their Sangiovese.

The Bindi Sergardi estates are also heavily dedicated to low intervention and alternative choices in the vineyard to avoid chemicals, they have an entire hectare dedicated to producing renewable energy for the estates (photovoltaic), and protection of the local ecology and environment by preserving land and planting native varieties of trees. All things that the Shepherds want to support (as do most Vermonters!).

The wines are clean, beautiful expressions of Sangiovese, with classic Tuscan profiles. They are bright, have nice acidity, but no shortage of fruit, either. Built to go with that boar ragù, harvest stew, or basically any fall cuisine you might be whipping up right now.

There are more wines available, and more on the way in the future, but we’ve started with:

  • Bindi Sergardi Achille Toscana IGT 2018

  • Bindi Sergardi La Boncia Chianti 2018

  • Bindi Sergardi Chianti Classico Riserva 2015

Cheers!
