You know what they say - always save the best for last! We at VT Beer Shepherd are stoked to be the final state in New England to add Artifact Cider Project to our portfolio. So, chances are, you've heard of Artifact before. If you haven't, no worries, that's what we're here for.

Artifact Cider Project was founded in 2014 by Jake Mazar and Soham Bhatt, both of whom are still heavily involved in the day to day operations as business manager and head cider maker, respectively. Artifact believes that cider is the regional drink of the Northeast and are committed to pressing more traditional ciders in which the apples remain the star of the show.

One of the most important pillars of their business is sourcing local apples. Most frequently, their apples come from orchards in and around Western Mass, but they often source from the rest of New England as well (especially Vermont!). Their efforts to support local farms has allowed many small, family-owned orchards to actually purchase more land rather than having to sell it off to stay in business. We love to see it.

We've brought in their core (no pun intended) lineup for starters:

  • Wild Thing (5.4% abv) - 100% McIntosh apples, crisp and aromatic

  • Feels Like Home (5.4% abv) - fruity and unfiltered, aged on rum-soaked oak

  • Slow Down (6.0% abv) - 100% McIntosh apples, fresh and citrusy

  • Wolf at the Door (6.0% abv) - layered and tannic, wild-fermented & bittersweet

Trust me when I say you're gonna wanna try them all. Good news is no one's stopping you…

Cheers.
